Help Navigating through a movie clip click here for a PRINTABLE VERSION of this page The quickest way to navigate through the frames in your movie clip is to drag the slider from left to right and right to left. With your mouse, right-click on the light green block of the slider and drag it to the left or to the right. You will see the preview image change to reflect the frame you are currently on. You will also see the "Frame" number below the slider change. Drag the slider to the right. In the picture below I have dragged it to frame 10553 because that looks like a good place to do some editing. Although the slider is the quickest way to navigate it not always the most accurate due to the accuracy of the mouse and the number of frames on such a short sliding scale. Therefore FadeToBlack offers additional ways to navigate through the frames. You may notice some arrows either side of the slider. Here is what they do... Moves back one frame. Moves back ten frames. Moves forward one frame. Moves forward ten frames. Using the left and right mouse buttons with these navigation buttons will have different affects. Clicking with the right mouse button on will halt after moving to the next frame, causing you to re-click to the button to continue moving forward through the frames. This is good to precisely navigate to the frame you require. With the left mouse button you will continue to move smoothely through the frames until you release the mouse button. Try these buttons now and see how they work. You can also use the keyboard to move to a particular frame of your clip. One way you can do this by first clicking on the "Frame" number input box as show below. Type in the number of the frame you wish to go to and press either the "Enter" key or the "Return" key. Whilst inside the "Frame" input box you can also using the cursor keys and the "Page Up" / "Page Down" buttons. Up arrow cursor Moves forward one frame. Down arrow cursor Moves back one frame. "Page Up" button Moves forward ten frames. "Page Down" button Moves back ten frames. A second way is to use the shortcut keys added in version 2.2. Forward 1 Frame Shift + Right Forward 10 Frames Shift + Page Up (PgUp) Backward 1 Frame Shift + Left Backward 10 Frames Shift + Page Down (PgDn) Next Clip Ctrl + Right Previous Clip Ctrl + Left As with most shortcut keys you can simply take a quick look at the menu at the top of the screen to find out what the keys are.
